Yet another day dragging on... posted by DeviFoxx on 05-05-2008 12:12

Coming up with a new Logo for DVP. While at the same time coming up with a new site design, writing out my Doujinshi, and looking for another job to support myself.
Kind of a pain in my side, because there's so much that needs to be addressed.
...
I also may need to make travel plans to go outside of this country later this year...
More on that later.

I'm not dead. Just been extremely busy. posted by DeviFoxx on 04-27-2008 00:32

I know I haven't posted anything in a very long time. I apologize, everyone.
There's a lot of stuff going on at the moment.
I'm going through many changes in my life. I'm seeking a new job and actively joining the workforce, I need to find a new place to stay soon enough--even more so now that I have a significant other to take care of soon. It's getting pretty serious...
... And if everything goes well, I might even be going to China this year.
You never know what the future holds.
... When you're really in love with someone, you have to follow your heart, you know?
I'm planning a video series. And I'm planning to overhaul my site again with updated and high-resolution images.
I haven't been playing FFXI a whole lot lately, because of said priorities I mentioned earlier.
But my biggest project is that I'm planning to start my own manga / doujinshi ... This is intended to be my Magnum Opus. My Great Achievement.
...
Hey. Let me ask you something.
You ever go through a period where you realized that some of your friends aren't really the best people to socialize with?
Ever since I've been making positive changes in my life, I've found several of my so-called "friends" turning into bitter enemies now.
Naming names is a waste of time. But I will say that I have more than enough problems of my own to deal with rather than sit here and worry about the problems of some other poor socially-challenged soul. Especially when they don't make any kind of effort to better themselves and spend year after year wallowing in the ditch they dug for themselves.
Harsh as that may sound. It's the truth.
... Or maybe it wasn't harsh? Maybe I was just being too nice?
Like my Dad says: "Your true friends in life, you'll only be able to count them on one hand--two at the most."
... Anyway. Back to the grind. There'll be more stuff to come.

A Bittersweet Ending. posted by DeviFoxx on 11-05-2007 03:26

While I didn't meet the contest deadline, I did get the video uploaded at the very least. It's from the Home Made Kazoku song, "Shounen Heart".
It's in the Videos section, so check it out.
There's more news to come later. I have to make preparations for the FFXI Fan Festival in less than two weeks.

Final Fantasy XI Fan Festival Is Almost Here. posted by DeviFoxx on 10-10-2007 00:23

The date is winding down. The rules for this year's contest have been released on http://www.ffxifestival.com/. I must say... The rules for this year are very... "limiting"...
Especially when compared to last year.
Only one video submission per person this year, as opposed to the multiple entries that were allowed last year (the winner last year won first and second prizes). And instead of a 7 minute time limit, the time has been reduced to 3 minutes allowed per video...
...We'll see about that.
I'm preparing my entry to meet the Oct. 28th submission date deadline.
Even if I don't win, or I don't become a finalist, a lot of people are still counting on me to record a lot of footage of the FFXI FanFest this year and give just about complete coverage.
I will at least come through to you on my promise for that. I'll probably mirror the videos either here, or on YouTube.com and GameTrailers.com , so expect a lot of coverage from me.
To see more stuff I'm working with, check the News Updates section of my site.

Another update after a Month of silence. posted by DeviFoxx on 08-27-2007 06:48

Well, a lot has been happening out here in sunny California for little old me. I started playing Final Fantasy XI again for a bit and I found out about the Final Fantasy XI Fan Festival 2007 that will be held in the winter of this year to promote their latest expansion "Wings of the Goddess".
I plan to be in attendance, of course. As I did attend last year and recorded plenty of footage.
As such, I'm expecting for there to be a video contest to be held this year, as there was one last year--along with a Cosplay (Costume Play) contest, and an Artwork contest, plus a raffle ticket drawing.
The Video contest is something that I have a pretty fair shot at doing well in, so I've decided to compete with at least three separate videos made from scratch. I've begun preliminary work on the first video as you can see from the .SWF (Shockwave Flash) clip on the News Updates page. That's not the entire video, that's an un-finished title sequence that's just going to act as the opening of the first video.
Trust me on this... I have plenty of tricks up my sleeve, and I am adept at these kinds of things.
...
Also, I plan to start work on my portfolio of drawings soon enough, so I can hone my skills even further, get a somewhat decent job, try to get accepted to the Art Institute and go for a Bachelor's Degree in both Graphic Arts & Game Design, and better myself by putting these art supplies I bought to good use.
...
I know that I have a lot on my plate. I didn't finish writing the "Druaga" articles like I promised myself I was going to, but I just got sidetracked with many things. Like, finishing translating those Mr. Driller Drill Land videos from Japanese to English.
I have my friend Kazuma helping me out, however by teaching me the conversational and colloquial aspects of Japanese, since the game uses many colloquialisms.
The Namco X Capcom thing I need to keep working on too, I know that. Saito has sent me some text dialog for me to take a look at and work at translating.
...
Also... I don't know when, but I plan to re-vamp my website soon enough, and also start my own web-series like a few other people--I'll probably use both YouTube.com and GameTrailers.com as a host for it.
...
I have plenty of stuff in the works, so keep checking back here periodically. There's more goodies to come before the year is over. I promise you!

Mr. Driller! Can ya dig it, son? posted by DeviFoxx on 07-21-2007 09:09

I've been working with more Japanese text. Trying to hone my skills even further. As a result, I've begun translating the cutscenes and FMVs in "Mr. Driller Drill Land" for Japanese-only Nintendo Gamecube.
To check my progress thus far, take a look at the Drill Land videos in the "Video" section.

A bit more... posted by DeviFoxx on 07-12-2007 03:53

Well, I finished the Arcade Version half of The Tower of Druaga. All that I have to do is the PC-Engine (TurboGraphx-16) Version, then I can move on to The Return of Ishtar.
That'll be fun, because there's no known English Guide / FAQ out for it yet.
...
After deciding that I would take up my childhood passion of drawing and doing artwork again, I've made a few changes around here.
Firstly, I went to a local art supplies store not terribly far from where I am and bought plenty of art goods (professional assorted markers, art books, sketch pads, inking pens, etc).
I also got my Scanner / Printer / Copier functioning again, so I can scan my work when I'm finished... Then I can do what I want to it with Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. Vectoring, Colorization and such.
I'm thinking about writing the original story I had planned in the form of a Doujinshi (Self-Made Comic / Manga).
I've got quite a bit on my plate right now... Aside from all of that, there's still some final touches I need to do with my buddies at Transgen Translations on the Namco X Capcom Project.
Then finishing that "Druaga" article I had intended to write...
Speaking of which, I expanded a bit on the first page of the "Valkyrie" article in the Documentation section. More info on the Sandra and Quarkman racial groups.
...Sometimes I think there's not enough hours in the day...
I think I'll go make myself some coffee.

I've wrote out a nice sizable chunk of the Tower of Druaga article.
I'll finish the rest of it shortly and move on to "The Return of Ishtar".
