  The Blue Crystal Rod is significant in the Druaga universe for only a few--yet still noteworthy--reasons. While it was by no means popular [in fact, it was the least popular of the entire series], the game was still significant by the fact that it marked the end of the official Druaga series canon on NAMCO's part. Or rather... it was intended to, I should say.

  In the original canon [and there's a reason why I use that particular wording]. The Blue Crystal Rod was marked as "Episode 3" of the Druaga series. While The Quest of Ki, The Tower of Druaga, and The Return of Ishtar were labeled as episodes 0, 1, and 2.

  To bring the player(s) up to speed, Quest of Ki begins shortly after the start of the "Druaga War". Ki journeys to the top of the Tower of Druaga with the intention of recovering the Blue Crystal Rod, but is captured. This prompts Gilgamesh to pursue her and liberate her from her captors. This event was fulfilled in The Tower of Druaga.

  Now that Gilgamesh has recovered both Ki and the Blue Crystal Rod, the Tower of Druaga crumbles to its formerly dilapidated state. It is now Ki who must lead the way and escape from the ruins. This event transpires in the story of The Return of Ishtar.

  Originally, the Blue Crystal Rod had been stolen from Heaven, and it was Ki and Gilgamesh's job to retrieve it. Supposedly with the intention of returning it.

  This is where The Blue Crystal Rod picks up.

  The story of this game places the fate of Babilym and the Blue Crystal Rod itself into the hands of Gilgamesh and Ki once again. But rather than take such an extremely linear approach to the story, the original creator took some liberties with the game.

  Bear in mind that this game was originally intended to be the final game of the series.

  The Blue Crystal Rod boasts roughly around 48 different potential endings. Leaving the player to decide how the saga ends. Will Gil and Ki return the rod to Heaven and regain Anu's favor with humanity? Will Gilgamesh take revenge on the Sumerian Empire that began this struggle in the first place? Will Gil and Ki use the rod at their ascendancy to the throne of Babilym and fortify their reign with it? Or will some terrible tragedy befall Gilgamesh's beloved Ki?

  In actuality, the game was more of an interactive, choose-your-own-ending storybook.

  However, there was some advantages to playing The Blue Crystal Rod.

  It added more depth to the world of Babilym and the world that surrounds the Tower of Druaga.
 


Shortly after the first few moments of the start of a new game file, Gilgamesh [in casual wear] is shown holding hands with his fiancée, Ki, in front of Ishtar's throne.

  The game is a standard text-based, menu-driven RPG, a genre that's seen only every once in a while in territories outside of Japan.

  It was probably for that reason that the game didn't see a release outside of Japan. It would've been too far out of context in other territories that aren't familiar with the game series.

  The gameplay is executed in a first-person, pseudo three-dimensional perspective. You have the option to move forward, backward, left, or right through pre-rendered and hand-drawn backdrops. Exploring the kingdom of Babilym and interacting with its inhabitants.

  While this can be both quite disorienting and confusing, the people at NAMCO made it easier by giving the option to enable or disable a four-directional arrow cursor [as shown in the screenshot at the very top of this article].

  If the player can move in any one of the four directions, the arrow will become filled in--fully white. If not, the arrow will simply be a white outline. While helpful, it would still be best to have an idea on what you're doing in the game.

  Personally, I don't do text-based adventures normally. As much as I'd love to sit and translate [or even write a translation patch] for The Blue Crystal Rod, I can't at this very moment. The text is very Kanji-heavy. If it wasn't, I'd have a much better chance.

  The reason why I referred to this game as "part of the original canon" earlier. As I mentioned before, this game was meant to mark the end of the Druaga series. Thus why it has roughly 48 potential endings or so, leaving the user to decide where things go from here. However, the Druaga series still remains important to NAMCO to this day.

  The game Attacking COM Dungeon: Drururuaga for Japanese Gameboy Color takes place over 100 years after the original Druaga series, starring Gil and Ki's descendants: Gilsh and Kairi. Whether or not you'd like to count that as a "direct sequel" is entirely up to you.

  Then there's The Nightmare of Druaga: Mysterious Dungeon. This game was merely published by NAMCO, but it was developed by ARIKA (Street Fighter EX series and MegaMan Network Transmission) and ChunSoft (creators of the entire Mysterious Dungeon series franchise).

  Both games were released in the 21st century; Attacking COM Dungeon in 2000, and Nightmare in 2004. Depending on how you personally follow the canon, the events that occurred in Nightmare can almost entirely eclipse the events of The Blue Crystal Rod. In Nightmare, we see Babilym three years later after the Druaga War. The Blue Crystal Rod has yet to be returned to heaven, and Gilgamesh has yet to marry Ki and take his seat fully upon the throne.

  Even further down the road, the story of Druaga continues in a multi-player arcade RPG in Japan known as Druaga Online: The Story of Aon. The series will extend further into the form of an anime series, and an online game titled The Tower of Druaga: The Recovery of Babilym.

  While I don't plan to fully translate this game anytime soon, I will however reveal not only the control scheme, but I will also show a fully translated prologue, from Japanese to English in this article. I will also include a translation of the first few moments of the game.

   The Control Scheme for The Blue Crystal Rod:

  • D-Pad : Move Forward, Backward, Left, or Right. Advance through in-game text.
  • "A" Button : Gain information about your current surroundings and check the immediate area for anything to interact with [NPCs, objects on the floor, monsters, etc.] (Same function as the "L" button.)
  • "B" Button : Cancel, or close text.
  • "X" Button : Tells you what area you will be in next if you move forward, backward, left, or right. (Works in conjunction with the "R" button.)
  • "Y" Button : Choose whether or not to Save the game.
  • "L" Trigger : Gain information about your current surroundings and check the immediate area for anything to interact with [NPCs, objects on the floor, monsters, etc.] (Same function as the "A" button.)
  • "R" Trigger : Enable or Disable the four-directional arrow cursor icon. If you can move in any one of the four areas, the arrow will be completely filled in with the color white. If you cannot move in a specific direction, the arrow will be an empty white outline.
  • START Button : Begin the game.
  • SELECT Button : No function.

  And now, the prologue, and game introduction.

ザ・ブルー・クリスタル・ロッドのプロローグ
Prologue of “The Blue Crystal Rod”

 




 今と別の時間…
ここと別の世界で…


In another time…
In another world…




 大いなる大地を、生き物のように流れる大河、「ユーフレイト」。
 豊かなその流れは、地上に住む人々の生活に幸せを運び、限りない富を約束していました。


 The grand Euphrates River winds its way through the vast, great land. The river carries
rich water to the people who lived upon that land, and promises of everlasting prosperity and happiness.




 心の思うままに暮らしていた人々も、やがてはユーフレイトの岸辺に集まり、
川のほとりに1つの町を造りました。 名前を、「バビリム」と言います。


The people who prospered from the great river eventually united themselves as one heart.
As a result, they made the decision to build a city by the very shore of
the Euphrates River--creating a very kingdom. That city came to be known as Babilym.




 バビリムは、良き国王、「マーダック」に治められ、人々は神を敬って暮らしていました。

Babilym flourished as a city, eventually establishing a king to preside over it by
the name of King Marduk. The people lived on, and paid their respects to God for their prosperity.




 そんな下界を見守る、神々の王、「アヌ」は、天上界に、
「ブルークリスタルロッド」を置いて、人間たちの信心に答えます。


Watching over the world of mortals from up above, Anu, the King of the Pantheon
creates the Blue Crystal Rod in the heavens as a reply to the strong show of faith
the humans below show to him in praise.




 ロッドのかがやきは、悪しき者をおさえ、世界に平和をもたらす力を、持っていました。

The shining Rod must not be touched by anyone of an evil heart, as the Rod
holds the power to bring salvation and peace to the world.




 その光に守られて、バビリムには争いや、戦いが起きる事もなく、
人々は助け合って、日々を送っていたのです。


Having the shelter of protection provided by the glimmering light of the Rod,
the people of Babilym are able to go about their daily lives
without worry of strife, disputes, or petty squabbling.




 バビリムの守り神は、愛と戦いの女神、「イシター」。
 女神に仕える、「巫女(みこ)」によって、その言葉は人々に伝えられ、道標となります。


 The Patron Saint of Babilym; Ishtar, the Goddess of Love and War.

Service is provided to her by a Shrine Maiden (similar to a Japanese “Miko”), who relays the words
of the people to the Goddess. By this act, they become like a “guiding symbol”, or a beacon
for the people who may lose their way.




 イシターの巫女は、大人になってしまうと神の言葉を聞く力を失い、
新たな巫女が、バビリム生まれの少女の中から選ばれます。


The Shrine Maidens of Ishtar, upon reaching woman adulthood, inevitably lose the ability
to hear the words of the gods. As such, a new, young girl must be chosen and delivered up
from the midst of the people of Babilym to become the next Shrine Maiden.




 また王家の男子は、イシター神の巫女と結婚し、次の王となるのがバビリムの定めでした。

Additionally, should a young male from the royal family of Babilym take the hand
of a Shrine Maiden of Ishtar in marriage, it is decreed that the young man is to become the next king of Babilym.




 マーダック王の息子、「ギルガメス」は、「ギル」と呼ばれ、町のみんなから好かれていました。

The son of King Marduk, Gilgamesh—also simply known as “Gil"—arrived
at a time when goodness had begun to wane among the townspeople.




 ギルとイシターの巫女、「カイ」は、子供の時からの仲良しで、
いずれはバビリムの王と、王妃になる運命でした。


Gil, and Ishtar’s current Shrine Maiden, Ki, had both been friends since childhood.
Sooner or later, destiny would unfold to reveal the two of them to be the next King and Queen of Babilym.




 ところが、その日を待たずして、バビリムの平和は、破られてしまったのです。

However, that day was to be far into the future. As the peace and
tranquility of Babilym was about to be torn into shreds.




 バビリムから、ユーフレイトを下って海に出た所に、「スーマール帝国」はあります。

As we follow the Euphrates River, further downstream from Babilym,
reaching to where the river lets out into the sea, we find the Sumerian Empire.



 皇帝、「バララント」が治めるスーマール帝国は、
バビリムとは異なって軍隊を持ち、常に争いが絶えない国です。


The Emperor Bahlarant rules over the empire of Sumer.
A nation in which there are constant disputes, and the troops are aggressive and restless—unlike Babilym.



 そのスーマールに、バビリムの空にかがやく、
ブルークリスタルロッドのうわさが、流れて来たのです。


The Rumor of the Blue Crystal Rod that shines brightly as it floats in the skies
of Babilym begins to flow into the ears of the people of Sumer.



 スーマール軍は、見たこともない悪しき鎧(よろい)に身を固め、
ロッドを手に入れるために、バビリムに向かいました。


The Sumerian Army, even though they haven't even seen the Rod,
clad their bodies in dark armor and turns their swords to face Babilym.



 戦うための力を持たないバビリムには、何もすることができません。

Sadly, Babilym lacks the necessary man power to establish a strong
enough military defense against the invading Sumerian army.



 武器もないままに、王マーダックも最後まで戦いましたが、
結局バビリムに残る市民の命と引きかえに、帝国軍に討たれてしまったのです。


Without any true weapons to defend themselves, the citizens of Babilym,
and their King Marduk, fight valiantly only to meet defeat. Those who survived the Sumerian
invasion were either attacked or placed into slave labor.



 バビリムは、アッと言う間に帝国の手に落ちてしまいました。

Babilym let out a mournful cry, for she had fallen into the hands of the Empire.



 そして帝国は、ロッドをうばうために、天まで届く塔(とう)を造り始めました。
 バビリムの民はドレイにされ、塔を造るために働かされたのです。


The Sumerian Empire sought to take the rod. And so the remaining people of Babilym
were placed into slavery; dragging materials for building a tower that would allow
the Sumerian Empire to reach the very heavens.



 そんなバララントの野望に、アヌ神が気付かぬわけはありません。

 Bahlarant's ambition was so greatly offensive; there was no way that such
an act would escape the watchful eyes of the god Anu.



 間もなく完成となった塔に、アヌ神はいなずまを落とし、塔をこわしてしまいました。

 So, without delay and with the utmost haste, as soon as the tower was completed,
Anu struck the tower with a bolt of lightning—breaking the tower!



 いなずまは、スーマールの兵士たちも、塔と共にこの世から消し去ります。
 しかし、すでに悲劇は始まっていたのです。


 In the flash of the lightning bolt, the tower is turned to rubble and the Sumerian soldiers vanish.

…But the land was already tainted, and tragedy soon struck.



 塔は、ロッドの光が地上に届くのをさえぎっていました。
 その光は、女神イシターとの戦いに
敗れた悪魔、「ドルアーガ」をも、ふうじこめていたのです。


 For at that time, the tower was so tall that it had blocked the protective light of the Rod
that Babilym was bathed in. And in the midst of that chaos, the foe that the Goddess Ishtar
had long since defeated with her radiant light had revived itself. The Demon, Druaga, was reborn.



 魔力をうばっていた光が消え、ドルアーガは再び力を取りもどし、
この地上に復活していました。


 The protective light had faded—obscured by the height of the tower; Druaga had
stolen it away and used it to restore and resituate himself upon the earth.



 ドルアーガは、再び魔力をふうじられる事をおそれて身をかくし、
ロッドをうばい取るチャンスを、ねらっていたのです。


 Druaga knew that if he allowed himself to be exposed much longer, he could once again
become bewitched by the very light he stole and could be sealed away again.
And so, Druaga stole the Rod and hid himself away from everyone.



 一夜明けたバビリムでは、だれもが目の前の光景を疑いました。
 なんと、くずれ去ったはずの塔が、完成した姿をそこに見せていたのです。


 By the following dawn, the citizens of Babilym were shocked at the spectacle their eyes
revealed before them. Overnight, the tower they unwillingly helped build, only to have
been struck down by the God Anu, had been restored!



 天にロッドの光はなく、悪の気配が塔を包んでいます。
 ドルアーガが魔力で塔を修復し、天上界からロッドをぬすんでいたのです。


 There is no longer a Rod in the heavens that radiates a protective light, for Druaga has
stolen the rod from the boundaries of Heaven and used it to restore the tower.
Taking the tower for himself, an evil presence now completely engulfs the tower.



 アヌ神は、人間のわがままや無知にすっかり失望し、ドルアーガのなすがままにさせていました。

  The God Anu has become thoroughly and completely disappointed at the selfishness and greed of the humans below. This gave way for Druaga to take over.



 世界はヤミに包まれ、だれも神を信じることなく、人々は不安にかられて争い続けたのです。

 The world is now filled with insecure people who begin to take part in petty disputes,
bickering and fighting. They no longer place their faith and beliefs into God. The world
begins to become wrapped in darkness.



 王子であったギルガメスも、塔を造るドレイの一人となって、働かされていました。
 そして塔がこわされた時、運悪く建物の下じきになったのです。


 Misfortune befalls Gilgamesh, and he is then made into a slave himself—resuming the previously
unfinished slave labor—repairing the bottom of the tower immediately whenever it broke.



 大きなケガでしたが、カイの看病によって、幸いにも命は取り留めます。
 しかし、いつ覚めるともしれない、ねむりに落ちていました。


  Unlucky Gil becomes severely wounded. Fortunately however he is unconsciously nursed
back to health by his dear friend Ki. Gil remained unaware of what had happened due to his injury.



 そんな時でもカイだけは神を信じ、毎日イシター神にいのっていました。

 In such a dark time, Ki was the only one in all of Babilym who remained devout in her
duties as a Shrine Maiden and continued to offer up prayers to the Goddess Ishtar.



 カイのいのりはイシター神に届き、世界を救う方法を授かります。
 それは、だれかがドルアーガよりロッドを取りもどし、天上界に返すことでした。


    Finally, Ki’s prayers are answered by the Goddess Ishtar. Ki is told a way to liberate Babilym.
She must take back the Blue Crystal Rod from Druaga and return it
back beyond the boundaries of heaven.



 カイは、自らが塔に出向く決心をし、イシター神に申し出ました。
 イシター神は、勇気を身軽さに変える魔法の、
「ティアラ」を授け、カイを塔に向かわせました。


 As determined as ever, Ki prepares to bravely journey into the Tower, per Ishtar’s request.
Ishtar then offers Ki a magical Tiara blessed with her light to allow Ki to face
the dangers that are yet to come.



 そしてギルが長いねむりから覚めるように、力をあたえたのです。
 神々の王アヌが人間たちを見捨てているため、
イシター神にもこれができる限りのことでした。


 Finally, Gil gradually recovers from his long recuperative slumber, filled with power. King Anu,
God of the Pantheon had now abandoned the humans on earth. Ishtar appeals to him,
and then gains permission to make the humans her responsibility now.



 塔の中は、ドルアーガの復活と共に地上に現れた、モンスターでいっぱいです。
戦うことが許されない巫女には、塔の中は苦難の道でした。


With the revival of both Druaga and the tower, the interior had become packed to the
brim with monsters. The trials were especially difficult for the young Shrine Maiden,
as she was not permitted to fight at all.



 そんなカイにも、味方はいました。
 地上に降りたロッドの光から生まれた、ドラゴンの、「クォックス」です。


   Ki had even made a friend to help her get off the ground. A creature that had been
born from the Rod's light. It came to be known as Quox the Dragon.



 クォックスに助けられ、カイはついに最上階までたどり着き、ロッドを前にします。

Quox helps Ki finally reach the topmost floor to retrieve the Rod that rested on this floor.



 しかしその時、
ロッドはあやしい光を出しながらグリーン・レッド・ブルーの3つに分かれ、
カイの前から消えました。


 At last, as Ki approached the Rod, it began to flicker a doubtful light.
It then divided itself into three pieces; A Green, Red, and Blue Crystal Rod.



 見回すカイの背後に、8本の手を持つ不気味なカゲが…

Ki looks behind her to find eight shadowy hands mysteriously
looming over her as they approached her...



 なんとカイの姿は、1つの大きな石へ変わってしまいました。

 Instantaneously, Ki’s form is changed into a round stone.



 勝ちほこったように、姿を現すドルアーガ!
 その魔力の前に、世界の希望は失われてしまったのです。


Proudly proclaiming his victory, Druaga reveals himself in his natural form!
He stands tall, believing that he has escaped the enchantment of the light,
and the desire of the world to be lost.



 ケガに苦しんでいたギルの前に、一人の不思議な姿をした者がやって来て、
カイがドルアーガに敗れ、とらわれの身になった事を告げました。


 Gil, who still suffers from his wound, soon finds himself confronted by a lone
shadowy figure. It tells Gil that Ki was subdued by Druaga, turned to stone,
and remains his captive in the tower.



 フードの中から、その目だけが異常に光り、
マントからは永遠のヤミのような、黒い姿が見えています。


  From within the hood, single pair of strange glowing eyes are the only
things visible from what seems like an embodiment of eternal darkness wrapped within a mantle.



その者はさらに続けました。
 剣の力さえあれば、ドルアーガに勝つこともできると…


 Furthermore, the hooded being continued to state that the only
way to conquer Druaga was through Gil’s bravery by his sword...



 それを聞いたギルは、カイを救うために力を授けて欲しいと、天にいのりました。
 バビリムには、戦うための剣など無かったのです。


   Gil then inquires as to where he would gain the power necessary to rescue Ki.
The being replies that the sword and all else that is needed does not reside within Babilym.



 天上界にも、そのいのりは届きました。
 アヌ神は、人間に最後のチャンスをあたえる決心をし、ギルに魔法の鎧を授けます。


    It all lies beyond the boundaries of heaven, which is now out of reach. The God Anu
admires Gil’s determination, moving him to give humans one final chance.
He provides Gil with a set of Magical Armor to rescue Ki.



 それは持つ者の勇気を戦う力に変える、黄金の鎧でした。

 The courage in his heart causes the armor to channel that essence into
pure power—thus giving way to the Golden Armor.



 ついにギルは、ゴールデンナイトとなって、ドルアーガの塔へ乗りこんだのです。

 At last, Gil, the Golden Knight is born! And with his newfound strength,
he enters within the Tower of Druaga.



 アヌ神が人間を見捨てたので、ドルアーガは安心して、塔の守りをおろそかにしていました。

 Because Anu had abandoned the humans, Druaga decides to relax and not
worry about anything else. Utterly becoming negligent and blissfully
unaware of what was happening to his tower.



 しかし予測をうらぎって、巫女のカイがロッドを取りにやって来たため、
さらに守りを固めることにしました。


 Finally realizing that Gil hopes to take back both the Rod, and rescue Ki,
Druaga finally decides to strengthen his defenses.



 アヌ神のいなずまに打たれた、帝国のナイト達を魔力で復活させ、
塔の守りに着けたのです。


 Since being struck down by Anu's lightning bolt, and the tower's revival by Druaga,
the Imperial Knights who had once died in the tower's destruction had now
revived and were enchanted by Druaga's evil.



 ドルアーガの魔力で、ロッドが3本に分かれてしまい、
クォックスも悪しき3種のドラゴンに姿を変え、塔の中をさまよっています。


 It was by Druaga's enchantment that the Rod had divided into three pieces. Respectively,
Quox the Dragon becomes evil now and he himself has split into three
separate forms that wander about the tower.



 しかしギルは、ナイトとしての力を身に付け、次々に敵を破って行きました。

   But Gil learned how to be a skilled knight, and use proper swordplay.
He tears his way through any enemy that crosses his path with ease.



 魔法の鎧は、ギルの成長に従ってその形を変え、やがてギルは、
ロッドと同じ青いかがやきを、身に付けます。


 Along with the growth of Gil’s strength, the Golden Armor changes shape too with
his progression. It then begins to radiate with the same illumination as the Blue of the Rod.



 ドルアーガは、3本に分かれたロッドの内、最も大切なブルーロッドを、
夢魔、「サキュバス」に守らせていました。


 Out of the three Rods, the Blue one was of the utmost importance.
So Druaga conjured up a nightmare named Succubus, then
gave his order for her to protect that specific rod.



 しかしサキュバスは、神と戦い続けるドルアーガに、
争うことの無意味さを分からせるため、ギルにロッドをわたしてしまいます。


 But after Gil and Succubus speak to each other, in an effort to help build an
understanding how insignificant Druaga's fight with God is, Succubus decides to give the rod to Gil.



 ドルアーガの魔力を、サキュバスから授かったロッドの光でかわし、
ギルは剣の力で、ついにドルアーガを討ち取りました。


 In the end, the act of Succubus relinquishing the rod to Gilgamesh ultimately
spelled Druaga's undoing. Gil's sword became enchanted with a holy light,
allowing him to vanquish the evil Druaga.



 3本に分かれたロッドを、再び1つにまとめると、カイも元の姿にもどりました。

 Having collected all three rods, they reform into one rod once more,
thus restoring Ki to her original form.



 カイは、ブルークリスタルロッドを手にすると、
その光で塔を包んでいた魔力を、消し去ったのです。


  When Ki held the Blue Crystal Rod, she then used its powers to erase
the evil within the tower and enshroud it with light.



 しかし、ドルアーガの魔力で修復されていた塔は、アヌ神にこわされた姿にもどってしまいました。

   However, since the Blue Crystal Rod liberated the tower from Druaga's enchantment,
the tower reverted back to its original form—that of the tower that had
been torn asunder by the God Anu.



 せっかくの帰り道も失われ、主のないモンスターは以前にも増して、
しつように二人におそいかかります。


  The original path to the top of the tower has now been lost in the rubble.
The couple must now traverse a new way out of the tower with the utmost care,
as there are an even greater number of monsters who will attack now.



 ロッドの力を手に入れたカイは、その光がもたらす魔法を使って、ギルと共に出口を目指しました。

 Now with the power of the rod, Ki wields its power and uses it to help guide Gil towards the tower's exit.



 やがて二人は、塔のエントランスホールに着きます。
 そこに待っていたのは悪魔、「アンシャー」の手先、「アキンドナイト」だったのです。


 The pair eventually arrives at the Entrance Hall of the Tower. A demon lies
in wait for them; the keeper of the answer, An Akkynd Knight.



 アンシャーは、アキンドナイトとの戦いでつかれたギルをたおし、
ロッドをうばって、世界から消してしまう予定でした。


  The Akkynd Knight, in a last-ditch effort, sought to cause Gil to grow weary and
take the Rod once again—leaving the world in a state of despair.



 しかしロッドの光とギルの剣は、アキンドナイトと、アンシャーの野望を破りました。

  But the light of the Rod and Gil's sword tore through the answer of the Akkynd Knight.



 塔の入口が開き、無事に二人は地上に帰って来ました。

  With that, the entrance of the tower finally opened up and the pair was safely back on familiar soil once more.

 しかしロッドを天に返すまで、二人の旅はまだまだ続くのです…

But until the Blue Crystal Rod is safely returned to heaven, the travels of the duo will continue on...


From here, the Prologue ends and the introduction of the game begins.



 物語は,ギルとカイの二人が,ドルァーガの塔から出て来るところから始まります。

 Our Story continues with Gil and Ki, having just exited from the Tower of Druaga.



 カイ: 「やったー! とうとう出られたわ!」

 Ki: "All Right! We're finally outside!"



「まだ喜ぶのは早いよ.ボクたちは,天にロッドを返さなければいけないんだ。」

 Ki: "Still, it's far too soon to rejoice. The Rod must be returned to Heaven."



 ギルが剣を収めると,鎧はその姿を消しました。

 As Gil sheathes his sword, his Golden Armor disappears.



 **Gil Sheathes his Sword**



 「まずは,シター様に報告しないとね?」

 Ki: "Shouldn't we report back to Lady Ishtar first?"



 こうして二人は,ドルアーガの塔を後にしました。

 The pair leave the grounds of the Tower of Druaga,



 そして,バビリムの町の北東にある女神イシターの神殿を,訪れたのです。

 And make their way to the Northeast side of the city of Babilym to pay a visit to the Shrine of the Goddess Ishtar.



 イシター「よくぞドルアーガから,ブルークリスタルロッドを取りもどしました

 Ishtar: "So you've taken back the Blue Crystal Rod from Druaga . . ."



 しかしあなた方は,そのロッドを,天界に持って行かなければ,なりません。」

 Ishtar: ". . . But if you do not return the Rod back to Heaven where it belongs, things cannot be truly restored."



 二人は,だまってうなずきました。

 The pair waited intently, and nodded their heads in agreement.



 イシター「神殿の表に,『天空の岩』と呼ばれる岩があります。
  天界に上がることを許された者は,ここから天に行くことができるのです。


 Ishtar: "In The Map of the Sanctuary, there's a Stone which is known as the "Stone of the Heavens".
Whosoever has been given permission to ascend to Heaven may use this place as an access point . . ."



 しかしアヌ塔は,人間を試したがっています。
  あなた方のこれからの行いが,世界に平和がもどるかどうかを,決めるでしょう。


 Ishtar: ". . . However, Anu set up his Tower for the purpose of testing humanity.
Peace may or may not return to the world. Such an occurrence
can only be determined by your actions . . ."



 あなた方が信じる道を進めば,おのずと結果が現れるはずです。
迷うことなく行動しなさい,それが私からのアドバイスです。」


 Ishtar: ". . . Use your best judgment and decide where it would be best to proceed from here. Act accordingly to your best instincts; that is the easiest advice I can offer to you without confusing you."



 こうして,二人の新しい族は始まりました。

 And so, the pair start a new family together.



 イシター「この部屋の入口に,ゲームの進め方を教えてくれる,テラジという者がいます。
  十字ボタンを下におして移動し,Aボタンで話すのです。」


 Ishtar: "The person at the entrance of the Shrine is named Teraji. He will give you tips on how to
advance through the game. Pressing the X Button will show you which directions you can move,
while the A Button will allow you to speak with others."



 イシター「まずは,世界を見ることから始めなさい。」

 Ishtar: "You should first start by taking a look at the world."
